About Fated States
Launched during the 2020 election, Fated States is an offshoot of the Fated Mates podcast, in which hosts Sarah MacLean (New York Times bestselling author) and Jennifer Prokop (critic and editor) bring listeners together for weekly phonebanks to ensure a Democratic sweep.
Since its launch, Fated States has delivered:
More than 1500 volunteers to make more than 1,100,000 calls to get out the vote during the general elections of 2020, 2022 and 2024,
A small but mighty group of trained callers to help cure ballots in swing districts in the aftermath of the 2024 election,
More than 75 volunteers to make 125,000 calls into Georgia during the runoff elections in early 2021,
Nearly 50 volunteers to make 25,000 calls into Kansas in advance of the state’s constitutional amendment to restrict abortion access,
Volunteers to phonebank for California special elections, to Beto O’Rourke’s well-check calls into Texas during the ice storms of 2021,
An army of romance reading, postcard writing Democrats to deliver postcards to voters in swing districts,
Fundraising efforts that have raised tens of thousands of dollars for state legislative candidates, and more.
Phonebankers with Fated States have supported organizations working to elect Democrats in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Kentucky, Nevada, New York City, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Wisconsin and more.
We’ve also set the Indivisible.org record for most calls completed on a single phonebank…and beat it (because our phone bankers are the best).
Jen & Sarah are joined by podcast listeners and some of our favorite authors for weekly Saturday afternoon phone banks all election season long to keep the House and Senate blue. Phonebankers play games, win prizes, talk romance, meet new friends, and make some calls to save democracy!
